Many faculty, staff, and administrative officers at PTC have contributed to their disciplines through research and writing. Others have earned doctoral-level degrees while employed at the college. The library holds copies of several dissertations written by college employees, as well as books that faculty members have edited, written, or to which they have contributed chapters.
Other PTC employees have been recognized at state, regional, and national levels for their achievements and contributions to education. For example, Dr. Donna Foster, a longtime faculty member and administrator was named the 1996 “Governor’s Professor of the Year” for South Carolina; this was the first time this award had been presented to a technical college instructor. Another notable staff achievement occurred in 2013 when PTC won the Bellwether Award, recognizing the college’s implementation of Lean in Higher Education. This was the first time a college in South Carolina had received this award.
